The God of the Bible is a God of purpose. He imparts vision and direction to His people. Anything God births will possess a vision, a revealed purpose for its existence. Vision and purpose are essential to true living. The Bible warns that “Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish.”—Proverbs 29:18
God commanded the Prophet Habakkuk to put pen and ink to his vision: “Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.”—Hab. 2:2
God has birthed Turning Point Church with an exciting vision and purpose! We call it “The Vision of the House.” So here it is written down:
- Celebrate God’s presence through worship Jesus told His disciples: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” —Matt.4:10
- Communicate God’s word through evangelism We believe that every Christian is called to share the good news of God's kingdom.” (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 1:8)
- Demonstrate God’s love through ministry At Turning Point, we believe that every member is a minister. Peter informs us of something very important: “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”—4:10
- Educate God’s people through discipleship “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”—John 8:31-32 Discipleship is the call to follow Christ's teachings faithfully. At Turning Point, our purpose is to teach every Christian to follow Christ on a daily basis, learning from Him how to grow into spiritual maturity.
- Incorporate God’s family through fellowship This is where LIFE Groups enter the picture. The heartbeat of TPC is our small groups ministry. At least once a month we meet in homes all over the Fort Worth region for fellowship, worship, teaching, and bonding. The early church is our pattern: “And day after day they regularly assembled in the temple with united purpose, and in their homes they broke bread…”—Acts 2:46
So there you have it:
- Celebrate God’s presence
- Communicate God’s Word
- Demonstrate God’s love
- Educate God’s people
- Incorporate God’s family
This is what Turning Point is all about!
