The Truth About Islam
10/25/26
Jude 1:3 “Dear friends, I wanted very much to write to you about the salvation we all share together. But I felt the need to write to you about something else: I want to encourage you to fight hard for the faith that God gave his holy people…once for all, and it is good for all time.”
_____________
On September 11/2001, America was changed forever when four commercial jetliners were piloted by 19 Islamic extremists into the New York City Twin Towers in a suicide mission of destruction.
On that dark day, 3,000 innocent Americans were killed.
Beyond New York City three more buildings were damaged, including the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
For most Americans this was their first up close introduction to words like Muslim, Islam, Jihad, and Allah Akbar, which means “Allah is the greatest.”
The Islamic terrorist organization al-Qaeda took responsibility for the atrocity, and some three years later the well known terrorist Osama Bin Laden admitted to being the chief organizer.
_____________
Following this horrific catastrophe, the media and many politicians and people of influence were quick to assure us that these terrorists were not typical of those in the Muslim religion.
Islam, we were told, is a peaceful religion.
We were also told that the god of Islam is the same god as the God of the Bible.
And that Islam and the Christian faith are completely compatible.
–So what is the truth?
–Do we all worship the same God?
–Are the Islamic holy scriptures, known as the Koran, inspired by God?
–Is Islam another path to God and eternal life?
Let’s start at the beginning with Islam’s founder, Muhammad—the man who dictated the Koran and gave birth to Islam.
Muhammad was born in Mecca in the Saudi Arabian peninsula in 570 A.D.
His father died before he was born, and his mother died when he was six years old.
So he was raised first by a grandfather and later by an uncle.
Muhammad was illiterate throughout his life.
Until the age of 25 he worked in caravans, and during his extensive travels he encountered many Christians and Jews.
Through his conversations with them, he picked up bits and pieces of both Judaism and Christianity, which he would later weave into his Islamic doctrine.
At the age of 25 he met a 40 year old wealthy widow and married her.
Their marriage enabled Muhammad to live a life of leisure from that point on.
_____________
Then, fifteen years after his marriage at age 40, Muhammad claims to have had a visitation from a spirit.
Supposedly, this spirit told him that he was called of God to be a “prophet” and an “apostle.”
—These terms were obviously later used by Muhammad to appeal to Jews and Christians.
Muhammad further claimed that these spirit visitations continued.
He said they would throw him into a trance, and his utterances during the trances were written down by scribes.
These supposedly supernatural declarations became the Koran, which was not compiled into a book until after Muhammad’s death.
The utterances were not organized either chronologically or by subject matter, resulting in a jumble of disorganized and often incoherent and contradictory sayings.
For example, the Koran gives four conflicting accounts of Muhammad’s call to be a prophet.
The word for chapter in Arabic is Sura, so chapters in the Koran are called Sura:
1. Sura 53 and 81 — Allah (Arabic for God) personally appeared to Muhammad.
2. Sura 16 and 26 — The call was from the Holy Spirit.
3. Sura 15 — Angels issued the call.
4. Sura 2 — Gabriel was the one who appeared to him.
_______________
Now at the time Muhammad purportedly received his supernatural visitations, there were over 300 gods worshiped in Mecca.
One of those gods was Allah, the moon god.
Muhammad decided to proclaim that there was only one god, and he selected Allah, the moon god, as that god.
That’s the reason the crescent moon became the symbol of Islam.
Muhammad also announced that he was the official and final prophet of Allah.
______________
Now initially, Muhammad thought that both the Jews and Christians alike would receive his new revelations.
This is why early passages in the Koran speak glowingly of “the people of the Book,” meaning Jews and Christians that embraced the Bible.
These very passages are the ones that Muslims in the west love to quote in their effort to prove that Islam is a tolerant religion.
An example is Sura 5:82 which says, “You will find that those who are nearest in love to the believers [Muslims] are those who say, ‘We are Christians.”
________________
But soon things took a turn.
A majority of both Jews and Christians rejected Muhammad and his message, and he soon turned fiercely against them.
Later passages in the Koran speak of Jews and Christians disparagingly:
• Sura 5:51 commands Muslims not to take Jews and Christians as friends.
• Sura 9:29 commands Muslims to fight against Jews and Christians until they either submit to Allah or else agree to pay a special tax.
• Sura 2:65-66 and Sura 5:60 contain references to Jews as “apes and swine to be despised and rejected.”
And Jews and Christians weren’t the only ones who rejected Muhammad’s new revelations.
The people of his very own tribe also rejected him.
The opposition to Muhammad in his home town of Mecca continued to grow until, in 622 A.D., he was forced to flee 250 miles to the town of Medina where his message was received.
Eventually his wife died and Muhammad went on to marry at least 11 other women (some sources place the total as high as 16).
One of his marriages was to a 6 year old child, which was consummated when she was 9.
Muhammad died on June 8, 632 A.D. in Medina at the age of 63.
He left no successor, and Islam soon broke into warring factions such as the Shiites and the Sunnis.
_______________
After his death, his followers took up the sword, as directed by the Koran:
Sura 9:123 “Oh ye who believe! Murder those of the disbelievers and let them find harshness in you…”
From here on, Islam was spread through military force.
Within a century, Islamic forces had conquered Saudi Arabia, the entire Middle East, Central Asia, and large parts of India.
_______________
But why were they always trying to fight and conquer?
What drove them to try to subjugate the known world to their religion?
Well, the very word ISLAM means “to submit,” or “submission.”
In the Koran we find Allah stating:
Sura 24: 55 “Allah has promised to those amongst you who believe and do righteous actions that He will certainly grant them (succession) on the earth, as He granted it to those before them; and that He will grant them authority to practice their way of life.”

In response to that verse, one Islamic scholar and historian wrote:

“This is a promise from Allah – the Most High – to His Messenger, that He will make his (followers) the leaders and rulers over mankind, by which nations will be corrected and to whom mankind will submit.”

So in the Koran itself is a declaration from Allah that Islam would conquer and subjugate the whole world!
So the intention is never to assimilate, but to subjugate!
_______________
Now what about their claim that the god of Islam is the same as the God of the Christians and Jews—in other words, the God of the Bible.
Let’s see what the Koran says:
Sura 29:46 says, “Do not argue with the People of the Book unless gracefully…And say, Our God and your God is only One, and to Him we fully submit.”
But is this true?
Every sincere Muslim deserves to know what the real truth is here!
One day Jesus was asked which was the most important commandment.
He quoted Deuteronomy 6:4—”Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!”
The word for ‘God’ that Moses used under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is Yahweh.
So both Jesus and Moses identified God as Yahweh, not Allah!
For the record, the name Allah is nowhere found in the Bible!
So Allah and Yahweh cannot be the same!
_______________
Then SECONDLY:
The Allah of the Koran is UNITARIAN—strictly one person, the sole creator and supreme authority of the universe, rather than three distinct persons.
Whereas the God of the Bible is TRINITARIAN—one God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Listen to what the Koran says:
Sura 4:171 “Believe in Allah and say not ‘Trinity.’ Cease! It is better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from his transcendent majesty that he should have a son.”
So not only does the Koran reject the Trinitarian God of the Bible, it also rejects that he could have a son—which is the core message of the gospel!
*Every sincere Muslim deserves to know this!
_____________
And then the Koran outright denies Christ’s atoning sacrifice by claiming that he never died!
Sura 4:157–158: “And [for] their saying: ‘We killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary—They did not kill him, nor crucify him, but it was made to appear so to them…and Allah raised him to Himself…”
So according to Islam, Jesus was not crucified on a Cross.
This cuts to the very core of the Christian faith and directly contradicts the Bible!
1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross.”
______________
And in the final words of the verse we read, “and Allah raised him to Himself…”
The Koran claims that Jesus never died, but was raised up to heaven by Allah!
_______________
And finally, Islam goes on to claim that Jesus will remain with Allah until He returns to kill all pigs (Jews), destroy all crosses, and convert the world to Islam.”
—Every Muslim deserves to know that this is a total falsehood and contrary to all the Bible teaches.
The truth is that Jesus said to Mary Magdalene following His resurrection,
John 20:17 “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father;'”—not to Allah!
And He will return to earth to judge the nations and to rule the world from Jerusalem for a thousand years, not to slaughter the Jews and convert the world to Islam!
_______________
The bottom line is: Our Lord Jesus—his redemptive work on the Cross, his deity as God the Son, and His death and resurrection from the dead are all denied in Islam.
So in light of everything you’ve heard today, listen closely to this closing passage:
1 John 4:1-3 “Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. 2 This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body (was begotten of God), that person has the Spirit of God. 3 But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God…”
