Some thoughts on our first streaming video only service and America’s plight…

I never imagined the day would come that due to a virus—what the Bible would call a PESTILENCE—I would hold a service with no people. But the response to our streaming broadcast has been wonderful nevertheless! We’ve received a great deal of positive feedback. But today’s events also brought some of Jesus’ words to mind:

The Lord predicted in Luke 21:11 regarding the signs that would precede His return: “There will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences:” He then added, “Do not be TERRIFIED or TROUBLED.” Why? Because “All these are the beginning of BIRTH PAINS” (Matt. 24:8).

What we’re witnessing in our troubled world is birth pangs. When a woman is in labor, the doctor knows to prepare for the delivery when the birth pains grow closer and closer together with greater intensity. Jesus’ point is this: Though our world has always been racked with wars, famines, and plagues, the KEY is that they will grow closer and closer together with greater intensity as His return draws near.

He also said that the world would resemble the “days of Lot” and the “days of Noah” (Lk 17:26-30). Noah’s day was characterized by widespread violence, deception, and universal apathy toward the warnings of God. Lot’s day was known for its pandemic perversion and self-centeredness. Do we look like this? You be the judge.

To not know Christ in these last days would be terrifying indeed. But if you know Him, you can rest assured that GOD HAS EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL. Jesus promised, “When you see all these things, know that He is near—at the very door!”

That is where I hang my hat tonight as I lay me down to sleep in peace. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
