God uses TOUGH times to create TOUGH faith in TOUGH people…
No one likes trials. I sure don’t. I’ve never looked up to Heaven and said, “God, please send me a really tough trial.” No, tough trials have always had a way of finding me all on their own. But the truth is, trials teach us things about God we’d never know otherwise. As the old Andrae Crouch song says,
“If I’d never had a problem,
I’d never know God could solve them,
I’d never know what faith in His word could do”
You’ve heard of Gold’s Gym? How about God’s gym! Trials are the workout room where our faith muscles are exercised. Some might be shocked to know that God is far more concerned about our spiritual growth than He is our comfort. That said, here are a FEW TRUTHS that the trials we’re all experiencing will weave into the sinew of our faith:
*Our help is IN HIM, not man. Though people do indeed help us at times, there are some trials and battles that only God can deliver us from. “Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless.”—Ps. 60:11
*The spiritual weapons of our warfare REALLY DO WORK. Until we experience a genuine battle with Satan in a red hot trial, all the stuff about the armor of God and so on is just flowery theory. Trials teach us to wield the sword of the Spirit-the Word of God, hold high the shield of faith, and speak the name of Jesus with authority.
*God is FAITHFUL. Experience by trial teaches this one irrefutable fact—God is faithful. He cannot lie. Will never walk out on you. Will watch over His word to perform it. Is true to the end. Will hold you up. And will carry you to the finish line!
