Because He lives!

This is a dark hour for our nation as the Coronavirus continues its awful march. But I can tell you, this dark hour can’t compare to the black day surrounding the Crucifixion of Jesus. The Bible records, “there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour”—Lk. 23:44. From high noon till 3 in the afternoon when the sun is supposed to shine brightest it was dark as midnight!

On top of that, Jesus was surrounded by cruel mockers, skeptics, critics, and razor-tongued haters. Even the thieves crucified on either side of him “reviled Him.” His disciples had fled, and many that had sung his praises only days before as He entered Jerusalem on a donkey now made up the angry crowd of mockers.

Yet none of this could compare to the gut-wrenching moment when Jesus took on Himself the full weight of the sins of the world. It elicited the mournful cry, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Once dead, they buried him in a borrowed grave and high-fived one another that the troublemaker was finally gone…but not for good!

On the third day at the break of dawn, the Holy Spirit entered the tomb, touched the Savior with His quickening power, and up from the grave He arose! The DARKEST DAY gave way to the BRIGHTEST MORN!

Because He lives, even in an hour plague, I can face tomorrow. He is risen!
