This NATIONAL NIGHTMARE has provided many teachable moments. As we’re beginning to see some light at the end of this long, dark, COVID-19 tunnel, here are a few things I’ve learned in a fresh way:

  • A powerful nation can be brought to its knees in one hour.
  • I no longer wonder how Antichrist could take control of the world overnight.
  • People that don’t normally ponder their mortality do so in crisis, which is a good thing.
  • Freedom is hard gained and harder kept, particularly in troubled times.
  • There is no calamity too awful for shameless opportunists.
  • Politics never sleep. Ever.
  • Good, giving, compassionate people shine brightest in tough times.
  • God’s grace gallops fastest when the pain is greatest and the stakes are highest.
  • The Holy Spirit doesn’t do social distancing.
  • Once again, Jesus’ prediction of the world’s birth pangs prior to His return have proven true—famines, earthquakes, false prophets, persecutions and PLAGUES in many places.
  • You never really know a person in good times; crisis is the great revealer of faith and character.
  • Jesus is as faithful as the rising sun, the shining moon, the rolling ocean waves, and the stars that shine every night.
  • No matter how hard a nation is rocked, the day inevitably comes when you still have to roll out of bed, put on your pants one leg at a time, and get back in the saddle.

And thank God, I believe that day is almost here!
