I was praying last night about everything happening in our country. A pandemic, racial upheaval, political firestorms, hatred, division, rage, destruction of property, riots, and anarchy are shaking America to the core.
As I prayed, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind a verse out of Hebrews:
Hebrews 12:28 NIV
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,”
It was as if the Lord was saying, “Jeff, this world’s kingdoms are being shaken. But you are a citizen of another kingdom, the kingdom of God. And THAT kingdom cannot be shaken!”
This truth was the rock upon which King David stood. He wrote three times of his confidence in God:
Psalm 62:6 NIV
“Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”
Psalm 30:6 NIV
“When I felt secure, I said,
‘I will not be shaken.’”
Psalm 16:8 NIV
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
I will not be shaken.”
Folks, God is never uptight, taken by surprise, worried, or checkmated by the devil. His kingdom is steady, peaceful, placid, serene, untroubled, and majestic. Hence, let’s join with David in saying: I will not be shaken!
