Let’s talk anarchy and where it’s coming from…
In case you haven’t noticed, cities like Portland, Chicago, Seattle, and New York, just to name a few, are under siege. Tens of thousands of rioters are attacking police, storming government buildings, lobbing bombs, attempting to burn police alive with gasoline, and defying authorities to act against them. Anarchy has entered the gates.
This nightmarish scene has brought to mind once again something Jesus predicted:
Matthew 24:37
“As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man.”
Read it slow: So. Shall. It. Be. Ok, then what were the days of Noah like?
First, Noah’s day witnessed universal moral collapse.
Genesis 6:5
“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Second, universal moral collapse led to systemic corruption.
Genesis 6:11
“The earth also was corrupt before God.”
This means the moral collapse had reached full bloom.
Finally, universal moral collapse and systemic corruption led to widespread violence.
Genesis 6:11
“And the earth was filled with violence.”
Widespread violence was the final straw with God. At this juncture a man named Noah was given a boat building assignment.
When a nation loses it’s moral compass by throwing God and His Word out the window, moral and civil anarchy are the inevitable bitter fruit. God-given checks and balances disappear. Natural affection is replaced with hard, unmerciful hearts. Divine restraint is lifted. Man is left to himself, and his fallen, godless nature goes on full display.
That’s what we’re witnessing. Having forgotten God, our nation is unraveling. Bloodthirsty, lawless anarchists prowl our cities in mobs. The only answer is the gospel of Jesus Christ preached with power in every city, town, and hamlet. For it is the power of God unto salvation!
My prayer is that God will raise up His church to do it!
