Let’s talk Socialism…
It’s stunning that we should need to breach this subject. We live in the most prosperous nation in the history of the world and it didn’t come by way of socialism, but by capitalism. It was a free, capitalistic society that made possible the sending of Christian missionaries and evangelists all over the world.
Yet an increasing number of very misled people, leftist politicians included, have come to the zany conclusion that socialism is where we need to go. Unreal.
Socialism is the fine art of taking from someone that’s earned what they have by hard work, and giving it to someone that’s earned nothing and won’t work. So socialism is legalized, government sanctioned theft.
It’s been claimed by some that the early church advocated socialism. They quote verses like this one from Acts: “Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need” (2:44-45). Sorry, this is not socialism. The early church shared their goods voluntarily through love. Socialism is forced through law.
Communist revolutionary and mass murderer, Vladimir Lenin, told the truth about Socialism. “The goal of socialism is communism.”
Socialism has failed every place it’s been tried. It leads only to misery, financial poverty, totalitarianism, and loss of freedom. The people pushing for it might want to move to Venezuela, Cuba, or North Korea for about a year!
Oh, and speaking of the glorious socialist utopia of Venezuela where the citizens have been reduced to dumpster diving and killing pets to stay alive, it is instructive to note that when socialist mobs took over:
- Statues were torn down
- Citizens turned against each other
- Street names were changed
- Flags were redesigned
- Police were murdered then disbanded
- Churches and businesses were destroyed
Sound familiar? Let’s pray for America, preach and teach the gospel, stand for freedom, resist and refute the foolishness of socialist propagandists, and teach our children the truth about freedom!
