Jesus said of the last days, “Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many shall grow cold” (Matthew 24: 12).

Satan is a lawless being. Isaiah the Prophet says that he literally sought to overthrow God. “I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High” (Isaiah 14:14). Those who fall under Satan’s power become just like him—lawless.

When lawlessness abounds as Jesus said, it means the normal restraints people have regarding wrongdoing are cast aside. Respect for authority disappears. The natural checks and balance of a person’s conscience are snuffed out. God’s warnings are ignored, mocked, scorned, and despised.

When lawlessness seizes a society, anarchy and dictatorship are always right behind. Study your history. Any time lawlessness took over a country, freedom was lost. In fact, rampant lawlessness is necessary to an aspiring dictatorship. Normal law and order must be overthrown in order to step into the vacuum.

America needs prayer like never before. Anarchy is rocking several of our major cities. Police forces are being defunded placing innocent citizens at grave risk of harm. Rather than crime being punished, it is blinked at and ignored. Lawlessness has gained a foothold. I believe our very existence as a free nation is on the line in the next few months.

But good news: The greatest power on earth is the power of prayer! The Bible says, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him,” (Isaiah 59:19).

The Lord will protect us from Satan’s flood of lies if we pray. This Sunday we’re going to pray for our country in both services!
